ash; I lov being annoying
The Breakfast Club AU
“Dear Mr. Matthews, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did was wrong. But we think you’re crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. What do you care? You see us as you want to see us—in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. You see us as a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.”
“and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
you know what I love about gmw??
the guys aren’t stereotypical.
• lucas loves baseball and sports, yes, but he adores learning and school. he’s sweet and respectful, and has earned a lot of dimension, as well. especially with the whole fighting thing.
• farkle is a genius, but he isn’t minkus. not by a long shot. farkle is also kind, and cares about his family very much. yeah, he’s a nerd. it’s freaking adorable, and I love how he’s CHOOSING to grow because he WANTS to. also, although he constantly chases after maya and riley, he values their “no”s and truly cares about them.
• zay. oh my god, I love zay babineux. like, he seems as though he’d be the typical troublemaker, stirring up trouble and being overly masculine. but, instead, he engages in activities he enjoys. he takes dance, and that’s something that TV shows don’t usually portray guys doing. he’s hilarious, and he deserves to be a regular.
while we’re on the topic, let’s celebrate the girls, as well:
• riley isn’t an annoying, perfect, naive little child. she is happy, but incredibly insecure. she wants people to like her, and she is willing to change for that. slowly, she’s learning that she’s her own person and she doesn’t have to change for anybody, but herself.
• maya looks as though she’d be the rebellious one, the unloved one. but, it’s not true; she’s brave, she’s strong and she’s also learning to love herself. she doesn’t think she deserves anybody, and she is thankful for the matthews and her friends.
these characters are well-written, and they’ve gone through some awesomely executed character development.
in a nutshell: they’re not perfect, and that’s why I love them.
